dear experts, Iam aiming to join iit madras nxt year with atleast a biotech.....but I hav heard frm ppl that it is not advisable to join iits fr biotech as iit are famous 1ly for their core b.tech programmes...............I don hav hope of securing a rank good enough to get core branches in top iits ?????pls tell me if it is advisable to join biotech in iits considering the fact dat I will attempt jee 2011 fr the second time>>> I hav now got ece in a reputed private college

There is no denying the fact that Biotech is famous in IITs as well and it is gradually becoming a core branch and many students are opting for it.
Biotechnology is the research-oriented science including a fusion of biology and technology. This study includes a large variety of subjects including Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Chemistry, Virology, Immunology and Engineering. Biotechnology can be applied in developing various vaccines, medicines and diagnostics, improving energy production and conservation and increasing productivity. There is a great scope for career in biotechnology in India as well as abroad. Career in Biotechnology offers various employment opportunities in research, marketing and production in the fields like medicine and healthcare, animal husbandry, agriculture and environment industry.
