Both ! It depends on your interests.

Research in chemiical sciences can be related to several industries like Oil and Gas, Chemicals, fertilizers, etc.

Doing research in physical sciences, you can make career in academics, opportunities for industrial collaboration is less as compared to chemical sciences.
