"IIT Kharagpur to conduct JEE Advanced 2014 on May 25"

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur will be responsible for conducting the exam next year.

In QS World University Rankings 2013, IIT Kharagpur has been ranked among the Top 400 educational institutions in the world (at #346). The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2013-14 too has ranked it in the 351-400 range. QS has ranked IIT Kharagpur at #58 at Asia level while THS has ranked it as the top educational hub in India.

JEE Advanced 2014 examination date

The dates for the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2014 or JEE Advanced 2014 have also been announced. Often referred to as IIT JEE 2014 (as selection to all the sixteen IITs is only through JEE Advance exam), JEE Advanced 2014 will be conducted on May 25, 2014. Time slots for both the papers of JEE Advanced have been scheduled as follows:

  • Paper 1 of JEE Advanced will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
  • Paper 2 of JEE Advanced will be conducted from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

JEE Advanced is an entry point to architecture, science and engineering programmes of IITs as well as undergraduate programmes of the Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad.

The date for JEE Main 2014 has not been announced officially yet but it has been scheduled tentatively on April 6, 2014. CBSE is yet to confirm this date.

For 2014, JEE Advanced will be conducted in its present pen-and-pencil format. But plans to conduct it online are underway. Hence, students preparing for JEE 2015 or JEE 2016 might have to appear for computer-based JEE Advanced.

Changes in JEE Advanced 2014 exam fee

The exam fee for JEE Advanced 2014 for general category and OBC students was Rs 1800. For SC, ST and PwD category candidates, the fee was Rs 900. Female candidates had been exempted from the fee payment requirement.

However, for JEE Advanced 2014, general category and OBC students will have to shell out Rs 2000; SC, ST and PwD candidates will have to pay Rs 1,000. However, no fee will be charged from female candidates like this year.
