New Delhi: To make its policies on values, gender issues and well-being more relevant to students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to involve more than 1,000 students from UAE and Gulf to participate in developing its national policy framework.

It will hold its first summit National Summit for the purpose in New Delhi in December. It will be also the first time that the voice of the Gulf students will also be heard. The policy that will emerge on the basis of students’ inputs will then be integrated in school curriculum’s that will be followed across all CBSE schools in India and abroad.

As a preparation for the big event, a two-day summit was organized at the Springdales School in Dubai. Named as the ’2nd International Life Skills, Gender, School Health and Well-being Summit’, it involved about 31 students and 16 teachers from Dubai schools.

The summit focused on life skills and youth leadership in UAE students. It also featured exhibits on anti-bullying, gender issues, social media, sustainable development and environmental sensitivity. A series of workshops were organized and competitions were held to spread awareness in Gulf students and promote peer mentorship.
