2cbse-350-x-225_061015112803New Delhi: Manish Sisodia, Education Minister of Delhi, has recently announced that addressing the concern of parents and children about heavy school bags, Delhi government and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is working to cut 25% syllabi for kids till Class 8.

Delhi government schools follow the CBSE curriculum and the cut will certainly make the bags of school-going children much lighter.

The reduction in syllabus will also be applicable to subjects sports, theatre, art and culture, music etc. The action plan for this is almost ready and it is expected to be implemented in schools by October 2015.

The government and the CBSE is now working to cut the syllabus of higher classes too – from Class 9 to Class 12.

The announcement has got a mixed response from education activists across India. They are question the speed and manner of execution of such a plan. While some argue that the plan should only be implemented on government schools, others say that if the syllabus cut is restricted to certain section of schools, the move will go against the board’s policy of offering equal opportunity to all kids.
