There are often various questions dwelling in one’s mind while preparing for an elite exam like the IIT JEE. The IIT –JEE (Advanced) 2014 is scheduled on May 25, 2014. The aspirants can find the answers to the most frequently asked questions (FAQs) here:

What will be the format of JEE (Advanced) – 2014?

Primarily an offline paper by nature, the exam will be conducted in two parts, namely Paper-1 and Paper-2. Each paper will be of 3 hours duration. Both the papers will be of objective type consisting of multiple choice questions on three distinct parts of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The question papers will be available both in English or Hindi but the selection of the language should be made while registering for the JEE (Advanced) – 2014.

 

What about the syllabus for JEE (Advanced) – 2014?

The detailed syllabus is given in the Main Menu of the website of JEE (Advanced) – 2014. You can also refer the Appendix-1 in the Information Brochure (IB) of the JEE (Advanced)-2014 website.

 

What are the requirements for appearing in JEE (Advanced) – 2014?

Firstly, those who have appeared in their qualifying examination (QE) i.e. in 10+2 or equivalent in 2013 can only sit for the exam. These candidates will first take the Paper-1 of JEE (Main)-2014. Then, out of these only the top 1, 50,000 scorers of the JEE (Main)-2014, comprising all categories will be eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced-2014.

 

Throw some light on the eligibility requirements for students who have passed their QE in 2013 or will appear in 2014?

The criteria for both such categories of students are same. Only those who stand in the top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective boards and categories of the corresponding year shall be eligible to take the exam.

 

Please give some details on the age limit requirements for taking the JEE (Advanced) – 2014.

The age requirements are different for different categories. For general and OBC categories, the norms permit only the candidates born on or after 1st October to take the exam. But for SC/ST/PWD, their birth should be of on or after 1st October 1984.
