What are the simplest things that make an IIT'ian Happy

Well the answer truly lies in simple things. Home cooked food, a cancelled class and even a proxy success – these little joys of life make IITians very happy people. Indeed!

A majority of the students undertaking the IIT course across various cities opt for a residential program.  Food, hence, is a grave concern. Nothing comes anywhere close to the food one is used to having at home. Students often find themselves taking solace by eating the all-time favorite maggi, snacking on bun and chai and consuming loads of junk foods of all varieties.   A tuck or a dabba from home or a meal at a relative’s place is something that can make your day!

 

IIT is a very difficult course to get into. Hence, if you are at any of the IIT’s then you are among the select few intelligent individuals, with a promising future.  A big ego boost comes from the fact when Aunties and Uncles at social gatherings praise you in front of others-labelling you as an IIT’ian who attended a prestigious course that very few get a chance to get into. An IIT’ian knows what it takes to get selected to an IIT.  To be applauded in front of others is like getting a pat on the back for scoring well and standing out in the crowd. Truly a proud and a happy moment for any IIT’ian.

A class that gets cancelled:-  Whether it’s a last minute cancellation or a scheduled alteration, nothing gives a better high than an impromptu coffee plan in lieu of a lecture- a fact which holds more meaning for IIT’ians considering the incredible amount of stress the students go through in the duration of the course.

A great Wi-Fi /internet connection:- It may sound like something which is readily available, but a good internet connection ensures a reliable download speed. So be it research for a course paper or downloads for recreation purposes, a great Wi-Fi connection makes life relatively easy for IIT’ian.

Birthday Treat:- Treat for good grades! Treat because your crush agreed to go out on a date with you! Treat for another reason that may seem legitimate! IIT’ians ALWAYS want to go out and look forward to a treat from someone. IIT’ians also have a special name for being treated by someone for any thinkable reason- it’s called a Chapo in the campus language.

Students going through the engineering courses at IIT- oftenend up forming groups. What ensues is a series of activities which take place within large as well as smaller groups. Be it eating out, studying or simply going for a walk to take a break, IIT’ians end up forming bonds which last for a lifetime! Something which truly makes an IIT’ian happy are meeting these very people especially even after the course comes to an end. Reviving older friendships, reliving the IIT’ian days truly bring about special moments for students who lived their lives at IIT.
