The National Council of Education Research and Training (NCERT) conducts the National Talent Search Examination or NTSE for Class X students. This scholarship exam aims to identify bright students and nurture them by providing opportunities to spursue higher education. The Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE) has announced that Stage I of the NTSE exam 2014-15 will take place on November 2, 2014.

NTSE exam date for Stage II has been announced as May 10, 2015.

Class X students from all the recognised schools will be able to appear for the NTSE stage I exam to be conducted by the Maharashra government, with no domicile restriction.

Online application forms for NTSE exam will be released on August 1, 2014 on the official website of the MSCE. NTSE forms are to be downloaded by the schools, on behalf of their students, and are to be submitted to the respective education officer by August 31, 2014 with all the documents.

Exam Pattern of NTSE Stage I exam

NTSE Stage I exam 2014 had duration of 3 hours or 180 minutes. It has two major sections:

  • Mental Ability Test, and
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test.

National-level NTSE Stage II exam will be conducted by the NCERT which will soon release the exam notification in this regard.

About 15 lakh students appear for the NTSE exam for only 1,000 scholarships that are awarded every year. Hence, it is one of the most prestigious and toughest competitive exams in India at high school level.
