Passed and Essential Repeat | No one is ‘Failed’ in CBSE 2020 Results
As per the statistics provided by CBSE, 88.78% of students have passed the board examination successfully. As compared to 2019, there has been an increase of almost 5.38% in the number of students who have passed the examination. In 2019, only 83.40% of students passed the examination. So this is a momentous occasion for students, schools as well as the CBSE.
However, another noteworthy change that CBSE has made in the 2020 Class 12 results is that from now on no student will be marked as ‘Failed’ in the results. The board has come up with an ‘alternative term’ which is ‘Essential Repeat’. CBSE has ordered all the schools to not mention failure or compartmental in the marksheets and instead use ‘essential repeat’.
Will this Change of Words be any Good for the Students?
This is without a doubt a brilliant move by the CBSE board authorities. We all are well-aware of the psychological trauma that students go through during the preparations of their class 12 board exams and also at the time of the results. Board exams are a significant milestone in every student’s life therefore the results severely affect their self-esteem and confidence.
Many students go beyond and take harsh steps such as suicide or suffer from depression due to their class 12 results. Moreover, the mark of failure remains with them forever in their marksheets so this impact can be life-long. Class 12 certificates and marksheets are an important document that is required at different stages of life. Not every student is able to handle the failure in a constructive way.
Therefore, now the harsh terms will be changed with ‘essential repeat’. This might help students change their perspectives towards success and failure and will understand that CBSE Class 12 result is just one milestone of their life. They have a long way to go and will have to surpass many different milestones in their life.
