NTSE Paper Analysis: Stage 1

Here we are going to analyse the 2017 National Talent Search Examination or NTSE 2017 as it is more popularly known to ensure that your life become easier as you prepare for the all-important exam. Conducted in two stages, this test aims to identify talented students studying in Class X and nurture them. It is an all-India exam and the first stage was held on 04th & 05th November 2017. The results for NTSE 2017 were announced in January 2018.
 

First Stage of NTSE

The first stage of NTSE 2017 tested three abilities in allotted time and through allocation of marks shown in the table below. This is a general distribution and the NTSE paper pattern can vary from state to state. There is no negative marking in first stage of examination.

Syllabus

This was an all-India exam; however, the syllabus for NTSE 2017 was based broadly on the prescribed State Board Syllabuses of Class IX and X.

  • NTSE exam for Sciences, Mathematics and Social Sciences covered questions from respective State Boards syllabus of Class IX and X.

  • Mental Aptitude Test covered general questions that test their power of reasoning and evaluate.

  • Language Comprehension Test was a general test that focuses on vocabulary, grammar and basic understanding of topics covered by the State/UT Board Books
     

Topic-wise Allocation of Marks

In the tables given below is provided the marks allocation as per topic of every subject as per NTSE 2013 of Rajasthan State. Most states follow a similar pattern, but you need to analyse the NTSE paper pattern of the state from which you are planning to appear from.
