what u need to understand is that electropotential is same term as that of electric potential . 
so, when u have placed a test charge somewhere at infinity distance in the space and u need to take that charge toi certain point without any application of external forces . 
that potential diffrence applied by the charge is called as the electric or electrostatic potential . 
electrostatic potential = work done (W) / TIME TAKEN (T ) 
its unit is joule per second , and specially this is a potential diffrence between those two points in which u are moving the charges .
