When we are charging a capacitor using a battery with constant voltage output, the energy stored in the capacitor is directly proportinal to the capacitance of the capacitor and is related asU=\dfrac{1}{2}CV^2.

When a dielectric is inserted inside a capacitor, the capacitanceCof the capacitor increases and so does the energy that can be stored with the use of same battery.
