Electric potential (V) is the property of points in space. Electric potential can be defined in several ways:

What is Electric Potential Energy?

Electric potential energy (U) is the property of a system. Two charges in the vicinity of each other are said to have potential energy

  1. The value of the electric potential at a point in space numerically gives the amount of work that needs to be done to bring a unit positive charge from infinity to that point.

Dear student,
Electric potential of a point in an electric field is defined as the work to be done to move a unit positive charge from infinity to that point. Electric Potential energy is defined as the negative workdone by electrostatic force to bring charge from reference point. Potential energy difference is basically the potential difference between two given points in an electric field is defined as the amount of work done that is required to move unit positive charge from one point to the other.
