two similar helium filled spherical balloons tied to a 5 g weight with strings of length 1 m and each carrying an electric charge q floating in equilibrium.Baloons are 60 cm away from each other.If the charge on each balloon acts as if it were concentrated at its center then what is the magnitude of q in coulombs?

Dear Tanmay

for the equiibrium of weight M,

2T cos @ = Mg

while for the equilibrium of balloon

F = T sin@

and

Th – mg = Tcos@

V(rho)g – V(sigma)g = T cos@

on solving above three equations

we get

q = 1665 esu

and

V = 2294 cc
