Since the capacitor is not charged before......so at t=O it will act as an open circuit.....so the circuit simply breaks between V(a) and V(b).Now 3 and 3 ohm resistance is in series whose equivalent is parallel with 1 and 2 ohm resistance in series...so the equivalent resistance is 2 ohm......
V=24 V
R= 2 ohm
So I = 12 A
Now using current divider rule.....bcoz they are in parallel, we will find that the current in the branch of 2 three ohm resistor will be 4 A...so in the other branch it will be 8 A.
So V(a) = 24- 3*4=12
and V(b)= 24-1*8=16
| V(a)-V(b) | = 4 V
