Yes , its their in mains syllabus , but in advanced , its not their , directly . 
but as its a concept related to the 3d geometry , so, advanced might ask ques by combining the concept from 3d geometry and conic section , 
so, donot ignore that and take the risk . 

and u have also to qualify mains to appear advanecd .
