Dear student

There will be two components of tension

T cos theta = mg

T sin theta = qE

Hence

Tan theta = qE/mg

E = mg tan thata/q

Sigma/epsilon = mg tan theta/q

Hence

sigma( surface charge density) = mg * epsilon* tan theta/q
