For this type of question first analysis the question like if we put between two charge negative will attract it and positive will repel toward negative. And as magnitude of positive charge is greater than negative. So we should put it on near side of negative and not between the two. Let it`s distance from negative charge is x then.K(2)(1)/(d+x)² + K(-1)(1)/x² = 0. So d+x =√2x and x is d/(√2-1).Hope it clears. If u have doubts then please clearify.
