If two equal but opposite forces acting on an object then the net force is zero and there will not be translational motion,

Consider an object say a vertical rod and two forces P and Q. P= Q.
P is acting on the upper end and Q is acting on the lower end.
Since P =Q. the net force is zero. The rod will not move from one place to another.
There is no translational motion.
But this does not prevent the rod from rotation.
