electric potential is work done by electrostatic force in bringing a unit +ve charge from infinity to a particular point.

electric potential energy is work done in bringing a charge from infinity to that point.

In classical electromagnetism, the electric potential (denoted by φ, φE or V; also called the electrostatic potential) at a point in space is the electric potential energy divided by charge associated with a static (time-invariant) electric field. Typically measured in volts, the electric potential is a scalar quantity equivalent to a joule per coulomb.

Electric potential is as such has no physical significance...... it just measures the amount of work done while you travel along any path between two points......Smile
