An electric charge, on being let accelerated in a uniform electric field, is said to have a decrement in its electric potential energy. Is it so because kinetic energy of the charge increases?

Yes. Not only an electron but all charged particles of nuclear physics has a tendency to move towrds its lower potential energy. This is due to the fact that potential decreases in the direction of electric field......

Ya, u may say this. But actual funda is about electric potential. As on moving in dirn of elec. field, elec. potential decreases , as it is inversely prop. to distance, so potential energy also decreases.
