coz circuit is made of conducting material in which there are free electrons & they move when

field is applied or potential difference is is there in the circuit...

so , electron will only flow if they are free ...

in wood , plastic  there are no free electrons so no current ..

directly in air they cannot move from -ve to +ve terminal of battery......
