Dear Vinay
Ex=-(dV/dx)(1,2) = -(slope of V-x graph at x=1 and y=2)
slope of V-x graph can be obtained from fig1
slope=4/2=2 (for y=2)
Ex= -2
similarly Ey= -(2/2)=-1 ,from fig2 for x=1
E=Exi + Eyj= -2i-j V/m
