Important Guidelines for JEE Main 2014—Pen and Paper Based ExaminationAs the JEE Main exams are fast approaching, we have brought you some handy guidelines to help you avoid last minute issues during Pen and Paper based examination.
So just go through them carefully and ensure that you skip none of the following:

  • There have been many cases of a candidate’s name appearing wrong on the admission card. This could lead to rejection of the exam. Hence, it is advisable that a candidate double-check his/her admission for name, gender, state, date of birth, test center, state code of eligibility, and category.
  • The admission card is issued provisionally to a candidate only if they meet eligibility criteria.
  • Examination halls will be opened 30 minutes before the exam time. Candidates must occupy their seats immediately. Candidates must report on time to avoid not listening to some crucial instructions.
  • Candidates must show their admission cards whenever requested. Any candidate without report card will not be allowed to take the exam.
  • Candidates for aptitude test in Architecture are required to bring their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers, and color pencils etc.
  • Candidates are advised to bring their own cardboards to write their answers. They must also have good quality ball pens.
  • Candidates must bring their documents (as mentioned in application criteria) on the day of examination and submit it with the invigilator at the test center. Candidates must not forget to write their Roll no on the back of the copy of the documents being submitted.

  • Candidates will not be allowed take or enter the exam center once the exam has started.
  • Candidates must sit on seats allotted to them with their roll numbers on it. Any candidate found sitting on a wrong seat or found to have changed seat intentionally will have his/her candidature cancelled immediately. No plea will be accepted whatsoever.
  • Candidates will receive a sealed Test Booklet 10 minutes before the commencement of the exam with an answer sheet inside.
  • Immediately after receiving the Test Booklet candidates must fill the entire particulars as instructed only by Ball Point Pen. Candidates must open the Test Booklet only when invigilators ask you to.
  • Candidates cannot leave their seat until the full-duration of the paper without the permission of the invigilator. Candidates must follow instructions of invigilators.
  • Candidates are not allowed carry any baggage inside the test center. JEE Apex Board will not be responsible for any loss of baggage at the exam premises.
  • Candidates are not allowed to carry any textual material, Calculators, Docu Pen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator, printed or written material, bits of papers, mobile phone, pager or any other device, except the Admit Card, identity proof, document as required under point no. 7 of para 8.1 inside the Examination Room/Hall. If candidates are found to have in possession of all the items mentioned above then there candidature will be cancelled immediately. They will also be debarred for JEE examination in future.
  • Eating and smoking is strictly prohibited in the examination room.
  • Tea, Coffee, and Snacks cannot be taken by candidates during the exam.
  • Candidates cannot leave their examination rooms without handing over their answer sheets to invigilators on duty.
  • Candidate will be asked to open their Test Booklets.
  • Candidates must ensure that the Test Booklet code printed on side-2 of the answer sheet is same as printed on the Test Booklet. For any issue related to codes printed on the Test Booklet and Answer Sheet, Candidates report to the invigilator for the replacement.
  • Candidates must fill particulars with blue/black ball point on both sides of the answer sheet. Use of pencil is prohibited. In case a student uses pencils, his/her answer sheet will be rejected without any correspondence in this regards.
  • Candidates must wait for the next instruction by the invigilator after filling particulars correctly.
  • The exam will start right on the time mentioned in the admission card. The announcement of the commencement of the exam will be made by the invigilator.
  • The total duration of the exam is 3 hours.
  • The question paper will have questions of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with equal weightage.
  • Every question will have 4 marks for correct response while ¼ marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. There will be no deduction for a question left with no response.
  • There will be only one correct answer out of 4 options given.
  • The invigilator will check admission cards of each candidate to ensure identity of every candidate and put sign on in the column in the answer sheet on side-1.
  • The boards will provide pens. Candidates must bring their own good quality ball point pens.
  • Commencement, half-time, and the end of the exam will be announced.
  • Candidates must check the number of the Test Booklet’s pages is equal to the number of the pages written on the top of the first page of the Test Booklet.
  • Candidates must also check the serial number and series of the Test Booklet with the serial number and series of OMR sheet. In case of any issue, OMR and the Test Booklet should be returned immediately to the invigilator for the replacement.
  • Candidates must sign their attendance sheets twice. First at the commencement of the exam and later while handing over the answer sheet to the invigilator.
  • Candidates must put their left hand thumb impression in the space provided in the attendance sheet.
  • All cases of unfair means will be dealt with Rules and Regulations of the Board.
