This academic year seems to be a season of erroneous results. And to prove this is a shocking incident straight from CBSE.
According to reports, CBSE has approved 12 marks to students for three erroneous questions in the online Joint Entrance Exam (Main) on April 19th. On the other hand, four marks were also granted to students for a wrong question in the pen-and-paper version on April 6th. The board had to take an immediate step and release the modified answer key on the day of results when 1,100 students challenged a few debatable questions.
Interestingly, the board had earlier denied all the errors. In the online version of Joint Entrance Exam (Main), question numbers 7,47, 48 had errors.
“The questions have been dropped from the paper, so all students get four marks each,” CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi said. “Questions are dropped for more than one reason. If more than one option provided is correct, we usually drop the question," he added.
"It is good that the board has identified at least one incorrect question. There were more questions, in which the units where incorrect and therefore options given were also wrong. The board should have ensured that the exam at this level should have been error-free," said Praveen Tyagi from IITians Pace.
