IIT Gandhinagar also known as IIGN is one of the 8 newly formed IITs in the country by the ministry of HRD, Government of India. The campus of the institution is under construction on the banks of River Sabarmati near a village called Palaj. This will be one of the prominent IITs in the time to come with fully equipped residential campus and it will run completely on solar power. The IITGN is envisioned to be a green zone and a pollution free campus.

IIT Gandhinagar was founded in 2008 and is located in Chandkheda, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. IITGN offers 4-year B.Tech. and M.Tech. programmes in the Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Materials Science and Engineering branches and Electrical divisions. Along with it the institute also offers 2-year MSc programme in Physics, Mathematics, Cognitive Science, and Chemistry, also a 2-year MA programme in Society and Culture. The admissions into B.Tech take place on the basis of IIT Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) ranks of the aspirants. IIT Gandhinagar also offers Ph.D. programmes in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Computer, Materials Science and Civil Engineering), Sciences (Earth Science, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) and Humanities & Social Sciences.
