Cracking any examination test requires intense preparation and months of dedication and Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana or KVPY, as it is popularly known, is no different. Run by Indian Institute of Science under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, KVPY is a National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) scholarship program that accepts highly motivated students to pursue research in basic sciences, medicine and engineering. It is a prestigious scholarship and its preparation tactics vary from the other medical and engineering entrance examinations.
Both XI and XII standard students can appear for this exam but they have to enrol into a B.Tech course on completing their Higher Secondary Exams. First year undergraduate students can also apply for KVPY and win a scholarship through the National Talent Search Examination.
The first pre-requisite, obviously, is to fill in the KVPY application form. You should know that the last day for submitting the application is Sept 2018. Ensure that your application is complete and that all the correct documents have been attached. The KVPY exam date is November 2018 and you still have nearly three months to prepare. The steps you need to follow are similar to JEE preparation but there’s a slight difference.
Here we share with you the tactics that you can adopt to win yourself a scholarship through NTSE:
Your other exams test your knowledge, but KVPY exam 2018 will test your basic concepts of logics and application. Prepare accordingly.
Most science students enroll in JEE preparatory classes so they know the concepts. If you know the concepts, then the KVPY questions 2018 will not seem difficult at all.
Students may have dropped Biology or Maths or Physics or Chemistry in their XI standard, but KVPY requires them to know the subjects. Get out, or buy new, NCERT books and train in all the subjects. Take help of teachers and mentors.
All students dread negative marketing, but the one way in which to counter it is to know topics completely and comprehensively. You don’t want to lose marks just because you get an answer wrong in KVPY exam 2018.
Practice till you become perfect. Attempt as many previous years papers as you can. Attempt online and offline KVPY question papers. Participate in mock test to understand the pattern of the question paper.
Learning to relax is as important as getting your answers right. If you are nervous you will make mistakes at your KVPY exam. Learn relaxation techniques.
Health is wealth and here, health will make you realise your dream. So eat right, try to get in some exercise and sleep the adequate amount, not only before the exam but also everyday while you prepare.
And last but not the least, clearing the KVPY exam 2018 is not enough, you also need to clear your XI and XII exams with the required percentile. So create a balance between the two exams and excel in both.
