The JEE Main 2018 counselling process is likely to commence from July, 2018. Till 2014, seat allotment procedure for JEE Main qualifiers for admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs was conducted by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). But, from 2015, the procedure of JoSAA counselling is being carried out by JoSAA. Only the students who qualifies JEE Main 2018 or JEE Advanced 2018, can participate in JoSAA Counselling. The candidates are required to fill in their choices in July 2018 itself. Any application after this date will not be entertained.

Under JoSAA counselling, the entire process of counselling will be held in an online mode. From form filling and options locking to confirmation of seat could be done online. However, candidates will be required to report physically at the respective institute afterwards. Please keep in the mind that seat allocation will be done completely on the basis of All India Rank (AIR) of candidates.

Dual Reporting under JoSAA 2018

As per rules of JoSAA, only a one-time opportunity will be given to candidate for Registration, Online Choice Filling, Dual Reporting. As far as Registration and Choice Filling  is concerned every student is aware about the same, but Dual Reporting is what where students get confused. So, here is the explanation of Dual Reporting. It is a process under which candidate can report twice, and can switch seat allocated in one institute with the seat allocated in another one. Candidates will require this Dual Reporting if they want to change the allotment of seat from NITs, IIITs or Other GFTIs to an IIT/ ISM. Same rule applies in Vice versa situation. Candidates who will fail to do so will end up losing the seat in both NIT/IIIT/GFTI and IIT/ISM.
