Let us have the simplest example to clear the stated idea. Let the vector be displacement vector.Suppose a man travels from point A to point B and then from point B to point C. (Remember that the initial point is denoted by `tail` and similarly the final point is represented by `head` in vector operations)Therefore, for displacement A to B, A is tail & B is head since the man moves from A to B. For displacement B to C , B is tail and C is head.But total displacement is A to C .Therefore,similarly tail (A) is connected to head (C) as tail and head are majorly used to indicate direction.
