The question is attached. It involves find the value of tan after dividing by cos throughout. On simplification, we get a quadratic equation 3(1-a^2)tan^2A+2(2a^2+3a-2)tanA-8a=0. How can this equation can be simplified? Can we use quadratic equation method? I would be grateful if step by step explanation could be provided for the same Thanking you in advance, Ziyad

this ques is extremely simple. you have got the eqn 3(1-a^2)tan^2A+2(2a^2+3a-2)tanA-8a=0
and you want to determine the value of tanA. so put y= tanA.
we get the eqn as 3(1-a^2)y^2+2(2a^2+3a-2)y – 8a=0
obviously this is a quad eqn in y and can be solved by using the standard formula (sri dharacharya formula).
kindly approve :)
