Solve the equation for x :-
Tan(cos-1x) = sin(cot-11/2)

Let cot^-1 1/2 = y
cot y = ½
Tan y = 2
Hence
Sin y = 2/ \sqrt5
 
Now question becomes as
tan (cos ^-1 x) = siny = 2/ \sqrt5
cos^-1 x = tan^ -1 (2/\sqrt5)
cos^-1 x = cos^-1 ( 1/\sqrt5)
Hence
x = 1/\sqrt5
