I didn't understand the part where- 4sin^2 A= -[(x+1/x)^2 -4] is equal to 4sin^2 A = i^2 [x-1/x)^2] ( the second last step)

We know that (x+1/x)^2-4= x^2+1/x^2-2= (x-1/x)^2
Also i^2=-1
So that's the way in which the last few manipulations were done.
