I think the ans is 17/8
 
square the equation value of sin a*cos a is 3/2
 
cos8a+sin8a can be written as
 
cos2a+sin2a]2 – 2 sin2 a*cos2 a]2- 2sin4 a*cos4 a
 
 
Now put the value you will get 17/8
