Why the vapour pressure of a solution of glucose in water lower than that of water?

Hello Student
Addition of solute to a solvent decreass the vapour pressure of solvent. This is because some fraction of the surface area of liquid is occupied by the solute molecule because of which the number of solvent molecules going in vapour phase gets reduced.
