why e/m ratio is diff. for diff. gases in anode ray exp. while it is same for all gases in cathode ray exp. ?

the nature of anode ray depend upon the gas taken in discharge tube , diffrent gas give diffrent properties of +ve rays which contains particle having diffrent masses and diffrent charges , 
therefore e/m ratio are not constant for +ve ray particle obtained from diffrent gases .
