Electron gain enthalpy: it is the amount of energy released when an isolated gaseous atom accepts an electron to become a monovalent gaseous anion
X(g) + e -> X- g + energy (electron gain enthalpy)

Electron affinity: of an atom or molecule is defined as the amount of energy released when an electron is added to it to form a negative ion.

Thus, both the terms are almost same and are often used in place of each other

The term Enthalpy means heat(energy)
In terms of chemical reaction enthalpy change tells us how much energy us lost or gained of the system. Thus is also useful in determining the work done
