It is the derviationa nd result U have to remember.
At Cp value,
dQ = 1*Cp*dT = CpdT
At Cv value,
dQ’ = CvdT
and
dQ = dQ’ + W
After substituting the values we get,
CpdT = CvdT + RdT (for one mole)
Hence,
(Cp – Cv)dT = RdT
we get,
Cp – Cv = R
