n-factor : It is is atomic weight or molecular weight by equivalent weight
For acids : If only the acid is given then you have to check the no. of replaceable hydrogen atom it contains and if a reaction is given then you have to check the replaced hydrogen atom.
 eg : n-factor of HCI = 1,
n-factor of HNO3 = 1,
n-factor of H2SO4 = 1 or 2, depending upon extent of reaction it undergoes
For bases : If only the bases is given then you have to check the replaceble hydroxyl ion it contains and if a reaction is given then you have to check the no. of replaced hydroxyl ion
For salts : You have to check the total positive charge on the salt.
