Demineralised Water is water of an extremely high quality. It is produced by means of a physical process, that is to say, you need a specialist piece of equipment to produce it called a demineralisation plant or a deionisation plant.
It is also known as deionised water, demineralised water undergoes a totally different purification process other than distilled water. This method relies on passing water through ion exchange resins, where contaminating anions and cations present in the water are exchanged with hydrogen (H) and hydroxide (OH), which then are combined to form water. Examples of ions that can be removed include chloride, calcium and potassium, as well as nitrate, sulphate and bicarbonate.
