Dear Sreekanth
In materials that exhibit antiferromagnetism, the magnetic moments of atoms or molecules, usually related to the spins of electrons, align in a regular pattern with neighboring spins (on different sublattices) pointing in opposite directions.

dear sreekanth............
In antiferromagnetic materials, which include certain metals and alloys in addition to some ionic solids, the magnetism from magnetic atoms or ions oriented in one direction is canceled out by the set of magnetic atoms or ions that are aligned in the reverse direction.

Applications:Antiferromagnets are very interesting in nature but do not have a wide range of applications as other magnetic materials do.  This is due to their lack of spontaneous magnetization [5].  However because their structural magnetization is closely related to FERRIMAGNETS they can be used along with ferromagnets to test theoretical models used to explain ferrimagnetism .  The lack an overall magnetic moment which makes them suitable for providing magnetic reference points in magnetic sensors since the structure of antiferromagnets is not sensitive to external fields.

Hello sreekanth
Ferromagnetism is the basic mechanism by which certain materials (such as iron) form permanent magnets, or are attracted to magnets. In physics, several different types of magnetism are distinguished.

Sreekanth, Antiferromagnetism is in materials. In materials the particles are in in opposite direction to each other then the material is called anti ferro magnetism.

anti ferro magnetism is defined as the basic mechanism by which certain materials(iron..etc) form permanent magnets, or these are attracted to magnets.
