Lassaigne’s testis used to detect the presence of elements: Nitrogen (N), Sulfur (S), Chlorine (Cl), Bromine (Br) and Iodine (I).
This test involves following two steps.
  • preparation of sodium fusion extract (SFE).
  • Detection of elements using SFE.
