The salt is generally used which eventually what dooes that it lowers the MP and FP of the snow.
The ice can't re-solidify aside from at a much lower temperature.
And thus this melting point and freezung point depends on the vont hoff factor and for the CaCl2 the i is 3 and in NACl it is 2 and hecne to lower the FP and MP is easier.
