The vapour density of a compound is 45. If the empirical formula of the compund is CHOO then find the molecular weight and the formula of compund. Also pls tell me what is vapour density?

Molecular weight= 2x VD(vapour density) = 2 x 45 = 90
The Empirical formula weight = c(12) +H(1) +O(16x2)=45
Now n(Empirical formula weight)=Molecular weight so
n x 45 = 90=>n = 2
therefore the formula of the compound is C2H2O4. I think that this isthe formula of (COOH)2.
Now coming to vapour density.
Vapour density in mathematical terms is regarded as half the molecular weight of the compound. Vapour density by name is the density of the vapours of a compund in gaseous state.
