The maximum number of electrons that can be placed in a subshell is given by 2(2l+1). Now l = 4 (for g subshell) Hence maximum number of electrons = 2 (2*4 + 1 ) = 18

The no. Of electrons in a shell is equal to 2(2l+1).. where l for g is 4.. hence total 18 electron are there in g subshell.
