Potassium salt of benzoic acid (C6H5COOK) can be made by the action of potassium permanganate on toluene as follows:
C6H5CH3+KMnO4 =>C6H5COOK +MnO2 +KOH +H2O
If yield of potassium benzonate can't realistically be expected to be more than 71%, what is the minimum number of grams of toluene needed to achieve this yield while producing 11.5g of C6H5COOK?
