Approved Tutor Answer11 Years ago Invert sugar: Sucrose is dextro rotatory. But on hydrolysis, it gives D-(-)-fructose D- (+)-glucose.Hence the resulting solution is laevorotatory. Thus, due to the inversion of configuration, it is called invert sugar.
