Lattice enthalpy of NaCl salt is 787 KJ/mol, which means that 787 KJ of energy is required to break the NaCl lattice into its constituent ions.So when we dissolve NaCl in water, why doesn’t the water get cold?(The dissolution of NaCl salt will require 787 KJ of energy per mole, which it should draw from water)
