based on configuration 1s1Hydrogen should be placed in alkali metal group.some of its properties reseble with alkali metals.it forms H+ion like alkali metals.in some way electronic structure of hydrogen matches with that of halogens.like halogens in some reactions it gains electron and forms negative ion.(hydrides of reactive metals like LiH,Ca(H)2.in some ways the strucbased on configuration 1s1Hydrogen should be placed in alkali metal group.some of its properties reseble with alkali metals.it forms H+ion like alkali metals.in some way electronic structure of hydrogen matches with that of halogens.like halogens in some reactions it gains electron and forms negative ion.(hydrides of reactive metals like LiH,Ca(H)2.in some ways the structure of hydrogen resembles that of the group 14 elements since both have half filled shell of electrons.all the properties of H can not be corelated with any of the main group in pd.table.so itis better to trea Has a group on its own.
