Yes. Work is a thermodynamic function.
Work is directly related to the energy or heat of the system.
Energy is used to perform work and work is done on system to increase its energy.

Work is a thermodynamic function. But it is not a state function as it depends on the path taken. Work can be positive, negative or zero.
