Ionisation energy is defined as the amount of energy given when an electron is added in single gaseous atom in its valence shell.
Ionisation energy is less means the atom will easily loose the electron and form the cation. Hence oxidation number will increase means atom is get oxidised and will act as a good reducing agent.
